Why is your place called The Swiss? Great question! Our establishment originally started as "The Swiss Hall" back in 1913. It was a meeting place for Swiss immigrants to conduct business, hold dances, throw back a few, and just enjoy the company and fellowship of others. After re-opening the venue in it's new life, we decided to pay tribute to the original feeling of the building and called it "The Swiss".

Where are you located in Tacoma? We are just up the steps from the Museum of Glass and right across the street from University of Washington Tacoma - 1904 Jefferson Ave.

Can children visit The Swiss? Sorry, but no. We are a pub first, so you must be 21 or older.

What are your hours of operation? The Swiss is open Monday thru Sunday from 11am to 2am. Our kitchen is open daily from 11am to 10pm. A late night kitchen menu is available Friday and Saturday nights from 11pm to 1am.

Do you take reservations? We take group reservations any day of the week up until 7:30pm. Please call 253.572.2821 well in advance to avoid disappointment in securing a specific date.

Do you have any separate banquet rooms for rent? No, our place is an open format. But you may reserve a section of tables in a specific area of our establishment. We also have special banquet and ala cart menus available for groups, large or small.

What kind of food do you serve? We are proud to provide you with the best in scratch cooking. Our menu ranges from delicious hot and cold sandwiches, authentic Italian pastas, our famous pan-fried in butter oysters, marvelous steamers, a wide variety of salads, fresh home-made soups and a nice assortment of appetizers. We also have daily specials to tantalize and surprise you. It's pub cuisine with our unique northwest twist.

Do you have live music? We are proud to offer live music throughout the week. Monday is our famous Free Blues night with top notch blues performers, starting at 8pm. Friday and Saturday nights we have a variety of top local bands playing dance music. Check our calendar for other offerings and special events during the week.

What time do you start charging a cover? Cover charge starts at 7:30pm unless specifically stated otherwise.

How much does it cost to play pool? Pool is free until 5 every day, and all day Sunday and Tuesday. Hourly rates are $5 from 5pm till closing Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday and Saturday rates are $5 per hour from 5pm till 8pm and $10 per hour from 8pm til closing.

Do you allow smoking anywhere? Sorry, only outside in the designated smoking area.

How do I get my credit card back if I left it there? Give us a call at 253.572.2821 and we will let you know if it's here. If so, you may arrange a time to come and pick it up or ask us to destroy it and get yourself a new one.

Are there any hotels within walking distance? Absolutely! There is The Courtyard by Marriott (253.591.9100) and Hotel Murano (253.572.3200), both well within walking distance from our establishment.
