If you like the Blues, Funk and all-round terrific music acts, Wednesday, August 14th, 2002 was a very special night at the Swiss. Sharing the bill were the New Blues Brothers, Bump Kitchen and Doctor Funk, all amazing acts in their own right, but unstoppable together! The night started off to the tunes of the New Blues Brothers, packed up around 10:00pm and continued to rock as Doctor Funk finished off the night. This gathering of talent was for a most noble cause, to raise funds for the Rocco Prestia Medical Fund.
For those unfamiliar with the name, Rocco Prestia is the legendary bassist for Tower of Power, and underwent liver transplant surgery on July 23rd this year. Although he has experienced a reasonably good recovery so far, the medical bills asssociated with his long hospital stay have far exceeded his coverage and ability to pay.
